Site Summary: One of the more picturesque and well preserved cliff dwellings in Arizona.
This 20 room dwelling was built by the Sinaguan people in the 13th century.
"Discovered" by Anglo explorers in the 19th century, the ruin was mistakenly credited to the Aztecs, rather than the Ancestral Puebloans who actually built it. Quoting the National Park Service, "It's not a castle, and Montezuma was never here."
