Previous Research on the Mission de San Agustin Complex

Excavations at the San Agustin Mission Complex in 1956.
There has been some previous archaeological research at the San Agustin Mission. The image above shows the results of an archaeological excavation by William Wasley in 1956 of the Arizona State Museum. He was able to trace the church and convento foundations, and he described their reddish orange fired brick floors. Other small excavation projects located two cemeteries and portions of the wall that enclosed the mission complex.
