Area 1 - Work Plan

Backhoe Trenching

The first excavation in Area 1 is being conducted in order to find and describe any buried archaeological materials in this area.

Locating Archaeological Deposits

In order to identify and record buried archaeological deposits in Area 1, a backhoe is used to excavate trenches across the western half of the Area 1. The trenches are spaced 30 meters (100 feet) apart and are roughly 1.5 meters (5 feet) deep. The trenches are being excavated in an east-west direction.
