Tucson's Timeline: A.D. 1150 to 1450

Between A.D. 1150 and 1450, there were major changes in Hohokam society. The Santa Cruz still provided for irrigation farming, but the Hohokam culture contracted into smaller villages. Pithouse villages were replaced with above-ground adobe houses, arranged inside walled compounds. The ballcourts were no longer built, and large platform mounds became the focus of village ceremonial life.
