THE SIQUEIROS-JÁCOME FAMILY lived in a house over the presidio site between 1866 and 1911. Excavation of
privy and borrow pits in the backyard yielded
many artifacts discarded by family members.
MANY PEOPLE SMOKED TOBACCO in
Territorial Tucson. Mexican-Americans preferred
to smoke rolled cigarettes. Euro-americans also
smoked cigarettes and cigars, but some individuals
preferred to use pipes instead.
