  Staff Biographies


James M. Vint, Preservation Fellow

Jim Vint has worked as an archaeologist throughout Arizona and in northern New Mexico since 1984 as both a student and professional for the Arizona State Museum, National Park Service, and in the private sector. He is a native Tucsonan. His B.A. is in Anthropology and Physical Geography (University of Arizona, 1987), and M.A. in Anthropology (Northern Arizona University, 1992). He is currently in the Ph.D. program at the University of Arizona's Department of Anthropology. Prior to his position at the Center for Desert Archaeology, Jim had worked for Desert Archaeology, Inc., since 1993 as a ceramic analyst and project director. Research interests include ceramic technology, settlement patterns, and regional interaction. His current work in the San Pedro River Valley focuses on the Sobaipuri and Spanish frontier, the subject of his dissertation research.
