William J. Robinson received a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Arizona. He has field experience at Point of Pines, at Spanish missions in southern Arizona, and in the Kayenta Anasazi area. In 1963 he joined the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (TRL) as a Research Associate. Promoted to Assistant Professor in 1968, he later became Assistant Director of the TRL and ultimately Director. His research interests involved both the use of dendrochronology in Southwestern archaeology and paleoclimatic reconstructions. These were applied at Walpi Pueblo, Hubbell Trading Post, Acoma Pueblo, and numerous project/institutional consultancies with the Museum of Northern Arizona, Dolores Archaeological Project, Amerind Foundation, School of American Research and others. He retired in 1993.
